Cherry Limeade!

Ok guys, I know for many of you it's still Spring, but here in Florida, Summer is in full swing.  In honor of this, I created a look dedicated to my favorite Summer drink: Cherry Limeade from Sonic Drive-In!

I apologize in advance for the pictures, these were taken with my phone. I can't find the cord to my proper camera =(

Products used:

Face
- CoverGirl Tru Match in 1-405 Ivory
- MAKEUP FOREVER HD Finishing Powder

Eyes
- Lime Crime Eye Shadow Helper
- MAC Eye Shadow in Sour Lemon (crease to highlight)
- BH Cosmetics 120 Palette 2nd Edition (light yellow-green color and neighboring lime green for crease, combo of matte medium red and red-orange for liner)
-MAC Fluidline in Pure White (on lid)
- MAC Eye Shadow in White (highlight on brow and inner corner)
- Maybelline Lots of Lash in Blackest Black
- MAC Glitter in Reflects Gold (Suggestion: apply before red eyeliner)
- CoverGirl 24 Hour Liquid Eyeliner Pen in Black

Cheeks
-MAC Pro Blush in Harmony (contour) and Peaches

Lips
- NYX Round Lipstick in Snow White
- MAC Wonder Woman jumbo lip gloss in Wonder Woman
Note: my lips turned out more orange than this color really is. Snow White is a deep blue-based red, perfect for just about anyone. I used Wonder Woman just to brighten it up a bit

Don't forget to comment, guys! I would love some feedback!

Til next time, lovelies!

Brand New Section: My Color Obsession of the Season!

I had so much fun thinking this one up!  I was walking around Target and noticed all the things I was gravitating towards for Spring were all the same color...CORAL!

www.colorcombos.com

Gorgeous, right? I'm completely obsessed! It looks good on everyone I've tried: pale skin (me!), olive skin (my two besties), dark skin...it makes them all come alive! Coral has enough pink to go with cool-toned skin and enough orange to brighten golden and olive skin.

I love wearing coral shirts, dresses, lipstick, blush--pretty much whatever I can get my hands on!

Not really sure what coral beauty products to try out? I found some of my favorites:

emeraldcitypretty.com
Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Candy Coral

 CoverGirl Lip Perfection in Kiss

 CoverGirl Lip Perfection in Rapture

CoverGirl Lip Perfection in Temptation
All Photos Courtesy of Temptalia.com

Looking for a more subtle coral pop?

Maybelline Color Studio in Sunset Seduction

And my new absolute favorite lipstick!
MAC Lipstick in Vegas Volt
temptalia.com

Since I was struck with inspiration at Target, here's some things they offer in this festive color:

Even Target.com agrees with me!

Mossimo Kimono Sleeve Maxi Dress $24.99

Mossimo Crepe Dress w/ Cascade Ruffles $20

Mossimo Plus-Size Multi-Wear Twist and Wrap Dress $39.00

Mossimo CrossBody Bag in Coral Orange $24.99

Merona Coral Satchel $29.99

Marcasite Shell SS Post Earring in Pink

I had so much fun doing this, and I hope you guys come away inspired to try something new! Let me know what you would like to see next time!

Until next time, lovelies <3

Concrete Minerals review and look (monster post!)

It finally got here! I ordered Concrete Minerals' Naughty and Nice set on December 10th, it finally got here January 20th.  More on that later.

Product pictures first!

This is what the set I purchased looks like:

Inside:

Flipped over:
SexyLips Lip Balm: Bombshell

'das cute right? Haha, anyways, the other two products I received from them did come in any special packaging but here are the labels anyway:

Bat-Breaker was purchased cuz I'm a huge Batman nerd, but the Croma was a bonus along with another lip balm, Karma.

Color Descriptions (if there is one) from the Concrete Minerals website will be in italics.

Kinky-Black-base teal w/ rainbow sparkle

Looks more like almost a royal blue, but the rainbow sparkle is definitely there.

TroubleMakerMedium-brown w/ gold sparkle

Um, medium brown? It turned out to me more of an olive/khaki color, but again, the gold sparkle is solidly there.

SmutDirty silver with pink-purple undertones

The verbal description is much better than the visual they give on their site, which looks almost as purple as Jezebel. I've only had the opportunity to use this as a blending color, I'm interested what I could do with it on its own, maybe wet.

JezebelShimmery purple - The purple-lover's purple. Darker than it is lighter, but still "daytime friendly". Gorgeous as a contour or alone. Looks stunning and metallic when applied with a wet brush!

No denying this one is purple. Has almost a chroma-sheen to it.

Bat-BreakerSteel-grey w/ flashes of turquoise and red- A fan-favorite from 2011's limited edition Arkham collection! Inspired by some of our favorite inmates who've all done time at the infamous institution, this shade was one of four created in honor of the biggest comic convention, Comic-Con!

True to description, but where's the flash of red?

Croma-Shimmery lavender w/ aqua sparkle- This soft, elegant purple offers plenty of sparkle!

Came out as more of an off-white with a lavender tint. Sparkle in the pot, but I lacked it on the skin with the completed look.

This isn't the best swatch picture, but it's what I have (One day I'll have a fancy camera....)

Kinky, TroubleMaker, Smut, Jezebel, Bat-Breaker, Croma
No primer on top, with Lime Crime Shadow Helper on bottom

The texture for all of these is very fine, could barely feel it when I put my finger in it.  I'm always skeptical about mineral shadows because I've never had much luck with color payoff. These have restored my faith a bit, and everything was amazing over the primer.

I have a small issue with some of the sample pictures found on Concrete Minerals' website. The sample picture of the actual products seemed much more vibrant than what you would receive, and then all but a few have a demonstration on the eye. I understand that most companies don't do that, but if you're going to do it for some, do it for all, or it ends up being frustrating.

SexyLips Balm in Bombshell (top) and Karma (bottom)

I really enjoy the color and subtle sheen of these, but that's about it. I'm not a fan of the minty flavor or the tingle, and the top of the product seemed to be crumbling into the cap.  Once I put them on, it didn't seem to be as much of a problem.

Alright, time for the rant.  As I stated before, I placed by order on December 10th, thinking I would receive it before Christmas. It didn't arrive. Alright, maybe all the Christmas packages clogged up the system, maybe it'll be here by the Tuesday after. No package.  So, I e-mail them very friendly-like, like any rational customer. A week later, no answer. OK, time for a phone call- there's no number listed on their website and my e-mail is not registered with the website any longer. I had to go through my payment receipt to find their phone number. Call, leave a message. Wait two days, no response. I e-mail them one more time, saying I would really love my products (and a response) or I'm going to go through PayPal to get my refund, but I would prefer the products.  Three days later, still no response.  I'm about the pick up the phone to PayPal when my mom texts me and tells me I have a package. I didn't receive it until January 20th.  Note: I didn't order the sample of Croma or the Karma lip balm, I can only assume it was an apology bonus, but no apology note along with it, just the packing slip.
So if you decide to order from Concrete Minerals, I hope you have more luck than I did.

The colors I received from Concrete Minerals reminded me much of my friend Mary, who also happens to be  one of my best friends' girlfriend.  She's goth and fabulous, and you should check out her blog The Every Day Goth.

I'm a little sad that the lipstick didn't photo nearly as dark as it appears in  person. =/

Lime Crime Mini-haul & Review

Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry this has taken me so long, but you lot know how busy the holidays can be.

Lime Crime was having a mini-sale back in early December so I took advantage of it! I purchased 2 Lime Crime  Eye Shadow Helper and 1 eye shadow in Dragon Scales.

Isn't the packaging so adorable? From what I can tell on their website, they have products in these same colors. Maybe a future purchase?

Eye Shadow Helper (retail $17, I bought it on sale for $10)

Freshly opened:
Florescent light, no flash

I opened both of them and they both looked like this. It made me a little skeptical about the texture, thinking it may be dry and not apply very well.

However, I used my ring finger to apply it to my eyelid...it was so creamy! It blended out so nicely and was a better color match to my skin than my usual primer. Hopefully this picture shows the wonderful texture:
Florescent light, no flash

Like with every primer, I had to keep my eyes closed for about 90 seconds for it to dry before applying eye shadow. I applied a lid color, and it went on beautifully, the color was bolder, everything the label promised. When it came to the crease, it made my round crease brush drag a bit, making a not-so-great streak of color I had to blend out that much more. This may be due to the fact that it is formulated to work with loose eye shadows and the crease color I was using was a pressed MAC shadow.

Once I was happy with my eye shadow (it took some patience), I went about my business of the day. For about the first 6 hours, my eye shadow didn't move at all. Once it started approaching the 8-hour mark, I started to notice some creasing, but I have to keep in mind that I tend to have oily eyelids.  Around the 10th hour was bedtime for me, and other than right in my crease, nothing moved at all! Although I must say that it was a more difficult to remove than other primers, living up to it's waterproof reputation. It wasn't until I used a full-on eye makeup remover that it started to waiver.

Pros
- Assuming you don't have super-oily eyelids like me, this really will last you all day
- Makes colors more vibrant!
- Dreamy, creamy texture
- The color works really great for lighter skin tones
- Pot packaging ensures you can get every last little bit!

Cons
- Unsure how this looks on darker skin tones, although I speculate it might look ashy on deep skin colors
- I had a problem blending eye shadow on it. Maybe I missed a trick?
- Can be difficult to remove without proper eye makeup remover.

In conclusion, I think it's definitely worth buying if you need color intensity/ all day wear. But, if you are a casual makeup wearer, I think $17 is a little steep for something you would only use occasionally.

Eye Shadow in Dragon Scales

I was feeling a little indulgent, so I also bought one of Lime Crime's eye shadows that was on sale.  Dragon Scales seemed the most interesting out of the choices. From Lime's Crime's website:

Color straight out of a fairy tale! Terracotta brown with turquoise shimmer.

And they're not lying! It can be compared to MAC Pigment Powder in Blue Brown, but this is more of a red brown than the MAC.

Overhead lighting, no flash. Look how fine that grind is!
Overhead lighting, with flash. You can totally see the turquoise shimmer!

Swatches:

Left: w/o Helper Right: w/ Helper. Big difference!
Under fluorescent lights, no flash
(it kind of does look like dragon scales on my dry skin. lol)

I really cannot wait to use this color. It's lovely brown with a little surprised added to it. I would think this would be fun on darker skin; it would just look like the turquoise effect!

Until next time, lovelies!
